DIRTY REALISM
Masterplan
2017  / Tokyo - London. Critic: Jason Lee

There is a growing sense of isolation associated with the development of megacities. Many turn to the comfortable, impersonal anonymity of the online world, social media becoming the new civic platform. Addressing the world as it is transferred to the digital domain, this proposal exists as an in-between, hyper-real space. The civic structure is a pedestrian bridge hovering over a site that combines Piccadilly Circus and Shibuya Crossing (two of the most busy city centers in the world), and it merges two levels of reality - the material and the virtual. Here, people can socialize comfortably with a virtual version of themselves, or simply cirulate above the bustle of the constructed megalopolis.
